Privacy & Policy

Confidentiality & Privacy Policy

The law protects the relationship between a client and a psychotherapist, and information cannot be disclosed without written permission.

Exceptions include:

  • Suspected child abuse or dependent adult or elder abuse, for which I am required by law to report this to the appropriate authorities immediately.
  • If a client is threatening serious bodily harm to another person/s, I must notify the police and inform the intended victim.
  • If a client intends to harm himself or herself, I will make every effort to enlist their cooperation in ensuring their safety. If they do not cooperate, I will take further measures without their permission that are provided to me by law in order to ensure their safety.

Your privacy is of vital importance to me.  When I am doing therapy with a couple, family or group each person is required to sign a confidentiality agreement attesting that they will keep what is said in the therapy room confidential.  Also, if you are wanting medical record information from a couple, family or group session everyone in that session must sign a release of information before I will be able to provide the information requested. When I work with children or adolescents I reserve the right to keep their confidences in strictest confidence as well.  Parents or guardians will be provided enough information to help the child/adolescent on their journey of growth but please don't expect me to share every detail  I simply am not that type of therapist.
